Welcome to the website for Norman Mitchell.
This web site and its few pages is in place as a bit of pointlessness, an experimenting & testing ground, and my place 'on the net'. When browsing this site do not expect any real excitement, innovation or insight. I dabble infrequently with the content and layout etc.
I have lived in Norfolk, England, United Kingdom since November 2016; moving from Hertfordshire where I lived for over 40 years. I am Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree educated, and when I was working, a Chartered Engineer and Professional Member of the British Computing Society.
My domain is configured to use Google Workspace. This I get to use for free as I subscribed when Google offered such things. Google Workspace is very impressive and - through continuous development - improves nearly daily. I have used it with this domain since 2007; and also commercially at previous places of work since 2009. I also manage a few domains for family and a local charity.
I held accreditations for both Microsoft and Apple technologies; which have lapsed since I retired. I operated at various locations and at a number of client offices in and around London. I used many different systems all with their own methodologies, networks and personalities.
I have considerable interest in Linux; which I have been using since November 2007. I have used many of the major Linux distributions and initially I settled with Debian for all of my home PCs, however, my distribution of choice is now Fedora with the Gnome desktop.
I also use Chromebooks (Linux again) together with a few Raspberry Pi computers (more Linux) for media serving and various network tasks. I have an Android mobile phone (yet more Linux). My household is Linux and Google powered - No Microsoft Windows, No Mac OS, no iPhone, no iPad.
We are in interesting times. Computing ubiquity: at home, at work in our hands and pockets.
